4. Outline Scope and Sequence
The Scope & Sequence identifies and summarizes what is taught when at each grade level. Teachers spent time developing and reviewing these for their grade levels/classes. They began with the standards and designed a Scope and Sequence. It is important, of course, when designing a Scope and Sequence, that a concept that is foundational for another concept is taught first. When the core resource decision was made, teachers compared their own Scope and Sequence with that of the Stemscopes (K-8) or McGraw-Hill Inspire Science (HS) core resource. Anywhere there were differences, teachers made adjustments using their professional judgment. The Scope and Sequence is an overview - it provides a general summary of what is taught in each unit over the year. The Unit Guides go into more detail about the content of each unit.
